

Leadership Development Program at Besqab
Summary of the Assignment
Behaviour Design Group designed a leadership program in collaboration with the housing developer Besqab with the aim of fostering more effective leadership that contributes to Besqab’s overall goals.

Challenge
Besqab, a leading residential developer, wanted to make a major investment in its managers and project managers with the goal of creating even more efficient construction projects while also increasing job satisfaction and well-being within the projects. Besqab sought a leadership program that would provide participants with lasting knowledge and tools for effective leadership.
Strategy
Behaviour Design Group developed a customized leadership program to address the participants’ current needs and challenges. The program was designed based on a needs assessment conducted in close collaboration with the client.
The leadership program was conducted in several sessions, with participants divided into groups, and consisted of four modules: (1) Me as a Leader, (2) Leading and Motivating Others, (3) Key Leadership Skills, and (4) Staying the Course. During these full-day sessions, theoretical sessions were combined with reflection and practical exercises to maximize learning.
Each module concluded with a homework assignment, and to further support this learning, participants were divided into mentoring groups that met between modules. Before the program concluded, each leader developed an individual leadership plan, which was followed up on during their regular performance reviews.
Results
A self-assessment was conducted both before and after the program, in which participants evaluated how often they exhibited specific leadership behaviors. The results showed that the leaders improved their skills in all areas defined by the program. Examples of changes in leadership behaviors:
- Leadership behavior related to “Providing constructive feedback” increased by 35%
- The leadership behavior “Setting aside time to clarify and plan the overall direction” increased by 29%
- The leadership behavior “Highlight examples of good performance” increased by 56%
