Behavioral Psychology Meets BIM & Digitalization
In this presentation, Erik explains how behavior-based change management can contribute to a more successful implementation of digital tools in the construction and engineering industries and other complex project environments.
The BIM implementation gap can be summarized as follows: significant investment – little impact.
All too often, organizations invest in new technology and tools but fail to invest in the behaviors needed for that technology to actually create value in day-to-day operations.
The result is unclear ownership, inefficient work practices, and technology investments that don’t quite live up to expectations.
To make a real difference, we need to shift our focus:
- Identify the key behaviors that drive success
- Identify barriers and create the right conditions (e.g., skills, tools, and support)
- Reinforce desired behaviors through positive feedback and by tracking KPIs that drive both activities and results
